Mark Proctor and Greg Pitt at the Australian Youth Olympics

There was disappointment in the Canoe Slalom Event as Stafford and Stone Club Members Mark Proctor and Greg Pitt struggled with penalties after a strong qualification performance.

On the final day of racing at the Penrith Whitewater Stadium, The Canoe Slalom Athletes were looking to build on the Gold, 3 Silvers and a Bronze medal won by the Team GB Flatwater athletes

The Highlight of the Canoe Slalom event was 4th place by 16 year old Toby Jones from Wales who finished just outside the medals in 4th place. A touch on both runs and a lower first runs made the difference between fouth and a medal.

In the C1 event, after the qualification event in which Mark Proctor and Greg Pitt qualified first and second, everyone hoped that the finals would bring a repeat of their qualification form, but penalties were a big feature as Greg finished top Brit in 4th place with ten seconds in penalties. Mark Proctor finished 9th after picking up a 50 second penalty in the semi final. Peter hall just missed the final - finishing 11th with a mistake costing time and a 50 second penalty in the semi final.

The results in the two races were:
