newNew opportunities to start canoeing: The Community Sports Coach will be running a new junior beginners group on a Thursday evening 6-8pm, starting after Easter. Paddlers are welcome to three taster sessions at £3 each before committing to the year-long course and joining the club (£21 for the first year). This group is aimed at introducing juniors to competitive canoe slalom.

There will also be a taster session, open to all ages, on Tuesday 1st April 1-3pm.

newDiv 3/4 Results: Results now available for the Div 3/4 held on 9th March 2008

newGreg Pit Wins MINI Slalom Series: This year Tony, Jeanette and Eileen Symes presented the Roger Symes Trophy to Greg Pitt, winner of the 2008 Stone Mini Slalom Series. The event had been keenly faught between the two Gregs throughout the series. In the end a flawless run from Greg Pitt saw him through to victory with Lara Horne shooting up the rankings to get second place ahead of Greg Hitchen from Matlock. Roger Symes was the owner of Arrowcraft who sponsored Stafford and Stone Canoe Club for many years. Full results of Mini 3 and Final Ranking List

Final Mini Slalom: Sunday 24 Feb. Who will win the series? Here is the ranking list after the first two races. There will be a 10 boat final on Sunday to determine the overall winner. Also, local firm Back on Track will be at the Mini Slalom offering a free sports massage therapy service from their new mobile clinic. Give them a try!

About Stafford and Stone Canoe Club

Stafford and Stone Canoe Club is currently recognised as the most successful slalom canoe club in the country. It has consistently produced paddlers of a national standard whilst encouraging participation at all levels. The club currently has members in all three of the World Class Programmes. In World Class Start (developing juniors with the long term aim of success at international level) the club has 13 of the 43 selected paddlers. There are three members on World Class Potential (development of medal winners in the next 10 years) and one of the 10 athletes on World Class Performance (those currently performing at Olympic standard) is from Stafford and Stone. The club was victorious this year at the British Inter-club championships and has 20 members competing in the highest national division.
