Stafford and Stone Canoe Club’s Canadian Doubles Course: Summer 2007

This course will be run over the summer holidays by the club’s community sports coach with the aim of trying to encourage youngsters to take up this under represented discipline.

Canadian Doubles or C2, for short, is an exciting discipline within in canoe slalom. Both you and your partner have to negotiate the course together. Every year places are fiercely competed for in the junior kayaks teams and squads, yet C2 places are not taken up. If you and your partner commit to training and competing together, there is every opportunity to succeed at the highest level.

Here’s how it will work:
The course is limited to 5 boats (10 people) and is open to Under 16s.
Cost (Including membership of the canoe club & insurance) £20

Should more people apply than places, priority will be given to the following:
• Under 14s,
• Twins or pairs born in the same year,
• Same sex pairs,
• Those able to commit to at least 80% of the course,
• Those not already competing in canoe slalom.

Provisional dates
The course will be run 1 to 2 sessions per week during the day time over the 6 week’s holiday with the possibility of a trip to Matlock on Sunday 2nd September. The course will mostly be run on the river at Stone. Dates to be confirmed nearer the time.
